The Transformative Power of Preschool: An Alumni Story
By Danielle Carpenter
I want to share a little story about my daughter and the incredible impact this preschool has had on her life. She’s now 11 years old and thriving in sixth grade, but once upon a time, she was a reserved, quiet two-year-old beginning her journey in the Quail mini-3’s class who hesitated to share even small personal requests with her teachers.
Back then, she was so reserved and often kept to herself. She didn’t begin speaking with her friends at school until halfway through her second year—and when she did, it felt like a huge breakthrough and a moment worth celebrating. Her teachers in Pre-K continued to gently encourage her, helping her find her “big voice” and teaching her how to stand tall and advocate for herself.
Over the years, her confidence has had its ups and downs, but today she amazes us with her courage. At just 11 years old, she has led a dance class of adults and participated in the district wide spelling bee. Thinking back to that quiet little girl in the Quail class, I never could have imagined how brave and bold she would become.
We are endlessly grateful to this preschool—the staff, the teachers, and their dedication to nurturing the whole child. They didn’t just care for her; they helped shape her into the strong, confident young person she is today.
