Pilgrimages
At Pinnacle, we believe that experiential learning through pilgrimage is a way to deepen one's faith, connect with fellow Christians, and expand our minds through all the senses. We plan and organize approximately two large and one small pilgrimage each year, and all are welcome to join us wherever we go. Below you will find more information about our 2027 planned trips and can look through past pilgrimages we’ve taken together.

As part of a faith tradition that is called to always be reforming, this 15-day pilgrimage to sites of the Protestant Reformation reminds us of where we come from and helps us navigate where we are going. We begin in Berlin, then travel through the cities, towns, and churches of the Reformation, meeting Martin Luther in Germany and John Calvin in Switzerland. Highlights include Wittenberg, Erfurt, Worms, Zurich, and Geneva, with two nights in Berlin at the start and a full weekend in Geneva at the close. This is a land-only itinerary; participants arrange their own flights and should be in Berlin on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2027. This itinerary offers a glance at what to expect, schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.
Pastor Mike recently went on a Reformation Pilgrimage and shared his reflection about the experience on Sunday, Aug. 23. He also shared great information about our upcoming pilgrimage in October of 2027. If you missed it, click here to view it online.

Past Pilgrimages
Civil Rights Pilgrimage
April 21-27, 2026
This seven-day Civil Rights Pilgrimage is a journey from sin to repentance and finally to reconciliation. Join Pinnacle Presbyterian Church as we explore slavery, racism, and the legacy of Jim Crow laws on this pilgrimage through Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma. Learn about civil disobedience, the role of faith, and the people who made the Civil Rights Movement possible. Most importantly, we will think together about how to bring the values of equality and justice home with us.
Footsteps of Paul through
Greece & Turkey
Sept. 29 - Oct. 11, 2025
Join Rev. Dr. Mike Hegeman as our scriptural interpreter and guide for a once-in-a-lifetime 13-day pilgrimage tracing the footsteps of the Apostle Paul in Greece and Turkey. The trip will include visits to Athens, Corinth, Philippi, and Thessaloniki in Greece. Along the way, you’ll marvel at the Byzantine monasteries perched on the cliffs of Meteora and in Turkey, visit Ephesus (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Pergamum, and Smyrna - three of the churches of Revelation. Conclude your pilgrimage with two days exploring the wonders of Istanbul, including Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the spice market, and a “whirling dervish” performance. Throughout the trip, Dr. Hegeman will provide scriptural context and inspirational lectures along with worship services in places where Christians have worshiped since the beginning of our faith. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.
Camino de Santiago
May 12 - 23, 2025
Sometimes we need to step away from our everyday life and seek God’s presence in a deliberate way. Pilgrims have been walking the Camino de Santiago for more than 1,000 years, seeking to commune with the divine. Today, pilgrims still trace these routes to connect with God. This 13-day journey offers participants the opportunity to walk over 140 km of the Camino de Santiago with a group of pilgrims from Pinnacle Presbyterian Church. The coastal route offers a convergence of solitude, rugged coastal beauty, and charming seaside villages. For each walking day, luggage transport is included so pilgrims can walk with only a daypack. Breakfast is included daily, along with nine dinners. This trip is a not-to-be-missed adventure for those who seek a workout for the body, soul, and mind. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.
