PPC is one of eight churches and organizations currently part of the consortium “Harmony Partners for Haiti” whose purpose is to facilitate support of Pastor Luc and Harmony Ministries including rebuilding and maintaining facilities and programs of the ministries’ churches, schools and clinics.

Roy Gust and Mark Leinweber represented PPC at meetings of the consortium members and interested parties in New Jersey on April 28 and 29.

Our church and other participants are providing funds monthly for food distribution to the Harmony Ministries congregations, payment for a doctor and medical supplies, and support of Pastor Luc’s family.

PPC has agreed to take the lead in working with Pastor Luc and his construction engineer in Port–au–Prince to provide architectural services in designing and providing renderings of the proposed sanctuary in Port–au–Prince. Mike Edwards, Saki Reindersma and John Rosenfeld have volunteered to work with Mark Leinweber.

Discussions have taken place regarding appropriate building materials for earthquake and hurricane resistance, costs, transport to Haiti, etc. Pastor Luc has outlined his needs for the buildings in Port–au–Prince as well as Leogone and Lasalle. Whenever possible, work on rebuilding will be done by hiring people from local congregations.

Currently, church services are held at Port–au–Prince on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday morning and evening under a makeshift tent in the courtyard of the church property, with 1,000 to 1,200 attending.

School is also held under the tent for 150 children. A doctor operates a medical clinic four days a week, along with a nurse and lab technician.

Since the earthquake over 400 people have joined Pastor Luc’s churches; 54 people were baptized on Easter Sunday.

Buildings are marked for tear down, repair or safe for occupancy, but getting buildings torn down and rubble removed is slow. USAID is paying unemployed Haitians to do clean–up work and is providing effective assistance, but the task is enormous. Some faith–based groups are providing food distribution.

Our support, both spiritual and financial, is essential to Harmony Ministries. If you’d like to learn more or provide support, please contact Roy Gust, Jan Loichle or the church office.
