Physician Assisted Death or Suicide, Is there a difference?

Some congregants may recall the sessions conducted by Dr. Tina Campbell in spring 2017 entitled “DEATH: The Elephant in the Room.”  On March 1st, the Faith and Science Interface discussion will complement those meetings perhaps being considered as the “Baby Elephant in the Room.” Assisted death could possibly become the major religious, legal, medical and ethical issue of our time.  While there are numerous problems globally, which may have greater gravity, this conundrum can affect each of us. Unlike other world problems, an individual has a choice of the time, place and methodology of their demise. Join us as we listen to Dr. John Mattox, retired reproductive endocrinologist and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arizona, review current laws and opinions concerning physician assisted death and how as believers in Christ, we should explore this issue and its impact on our faith.

The Faith and Science Roundtable meets on the “First Thursday” of each month to discuss issues at the interface between faith and science in a respectful environment where it is ok to be a novice, an expert or somewhere in between. All who are interested in the conversation, including youth, are welcome to attend.
