“Buen Camino!”

written by Rev. Dr. Mike Hegeman

When you are reading this, I will be walking the Camino de Santiago in northwest Spain with twelve other folks connected with Pinnacle. In fact, Wednesday is our first official day of walking. (If you want to look on a map, we are walking from the towns of Oia to Baiona, along the coast.) It’s about a twenty-minute drive by car, but walking will take us about 6-7 hours. So, if we could drive it, why would we walk it?

The idea is to join, in spirit, with the thousands of pilgrims who have walked these paths for centuries, seeking a time away to reflect on our lives and our faith, away from the franticness of our daily lives. We hope to step onto the path of pilgrimage, letting go of what no longer serves, praying as we go, so that we might hear God’s voice calling us into deeper communion.

We invite you to pray along with us and for us pilgrims: George, Roselyn, Jed, Renee, Charley, Lynn, Julia, Vicki, Chris, Kathy, Emily, Ruth, Rick & Mike.

Here is our itinerary:

Wed. 5/14 - Oia to Baiona

Thu. 5/15 - Baiona to Vigo

Fri. 5/16 - Vigo to Arcade

Sat. 5/17 - Arcade to Pontevedra

Sun. 5/18 - Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis

Mon. 5/19 - Caldas de Reis to Padron

Tue. 5/20 - Padron to Santiago de Compostela

Pray for each traveller that he or she remain healthy and safe and that we all grow in fellowship, as we journey along. Pray that we have a deeper experience of faith as we meet Christ in those with whom we walk…friends and strangers alike. Pray that each day has wonders to behold, miracles to witness and love to be shared.

A pilgrimage does not guarantee spiritual growth, but those who walk the way of pilgrimage set the stage for the Spirit of God to lead us, to shape us, and to transform us.

Pray for us and we will pray for you, our family back here at Pinnacle!
Vaya con Dios!

Pastor Mike
